I love summer thunderstorms. Yesterday’s heat spurred storms with plenty of much needed rain. I enjoyed watching it blow through from the comfort of my front porch.
Although the cool front that followed was short lived, the flowers seemed to revel in the sweet summer rains and cool moist air.
Today, I spied a lovely toadstool clinging to a wooden planter. Its elegant detail reminds me of a lady’s parasol.
Who doesn’t love a bargain? I visited my local Lowe’s yesterday to pick up a couple of tomato cages, and as usual, left with way more then I planned to purchase. However, this time I didn’t break the bank. I wandered past a rack full of discounted plants. Most of them looked pitiful in varying stages of withering. Most were priced at fifty cents a piece. Then my eyes spied a sign that read 10 for $1 placed above several flats of geraniums. Well, I couldn’t pass it up. It was perfect timing too as my daughter recently moved into a new apartment, and her patio needs some sprucing up. What better way to do that then colorful geraniums! All these geraniums needed was a little TLC. After trimming off the dead stems and leaves, they looked simply marvelous. I think I paid about $7 for the two planters. And, I have plenty of potting soil at home. So, I was able to give her a lovely housewarming gift for under $20.
